Household appliances are available in different energy efficiency classes. Do you know which energy class the appliances in your home belong to?
Under the current energy labelling system, products are classified on a scale from A to G.
Class A represents the highest level of energy efficiency, while Class G represents the lowest level and generally higher energy consumption.
- Class A: The highest level of energy efficiency. These products perform the same function using the least amount of energy.
- Class B: A very high level of energy efficiency, with performance close to Class A.
- Class C: A good level of energy efficiency.
- Class D: A moderate level of energy efficiency. Many products currently fall within this range.
- Class E: Below average energy efficiency and higher energy consumption.
- Class F: Low energy efficiency and high energy consumption.
- Class G: The lowest level of energy efficiency. These products consume the most energy.
In an average home, electrical appliances account for approximately 20 percent of total energy consumption. Refrigerators account for around 30 percent of household electricity use. Therefore, the higher the energy efficiency class of a refrigerator, the less electricity it consumes. Lower electricity consumption helps reduce energy bills while also limiting environmental impacts.
Using a more efficient refrigerator reduces electricity consumption. It is estimated that the widespread use of efficient refrigerators across Türkiye could save between 2 and 5 billion kWh of electricity. Other household appliances can also provide energy savings of up to 25 percent.
